Support for Finnish Design and Architecture Education

ABL-Laatat actively supports Finnish architecture, design, and arts education. We have participated in student projects and directly supported students in the field.

For example, in collaboration with Metropolia's design students, we organized a ceramics learning project and exhibition for Helsinki Design Week in 2019.

100% Finnish Ownership

We are a 100% Finnish-owned company, with our entire tax footprint staying in Finland. It is important to us to maintain production in Finland, create domestic jobs through our operations, and support local services by using Finnish providers.

Kuin yhtä suurta perhettä yhteistyökumppanien kanssa

30 vuotta liiketuttavina, 30 vuotta hyvinä ystävinä. ABL-Laattojen toimitusjohtajan Ralf Forsmanin ja Agrob Buchtalin aluepäällikön Rolf Kleblin vuosikymmeniä kestänyt ystävyys sinetöitiin heti tuttavuuden alussa 1980-luvun puolessavälissä, kun miehet pakkasivat bussin laatoilla ja suuntasivat auton nokan kohti pohjoista. Teimme bussilla viikon kestävän roadshown Pohjois-Suomessa, pysähdyimme eri kaupungeissa ja järjestimme hotelleissa laattaseminaareja arkkitehdeille, Ralf Forsman muistelee yhteistyön alkuaikoja. – Ja minulla oli yksi toive, kun starttasimme matkaan: että näkisin matkan aikana edes yhden hirven, Rolf Klebl nauraa. – Mutta ne roadshowt olivat iso menestys! Väkeä riitti, tupa oli aina täynnä, saksalainen lisää, pohtien samalla, että tänä päivänä moinen tuskin enää onnistuisi. Työ on kaikilla muuttunut hektisemmäksi ja aika on kortilla, myös arkkitehdeillä.

ABL Countertops have Finnish Work’s Key Flag Symbol

The Association for Finnish Work awarded ABL-Laatat with Finnish Work’s Key Flag Symbol as a recognition of a product made in Finland. Our ceramic countertops are manufactured with Finnish handicraft at ABL Cut Studio in Siltamäki, Helsinki. The popularity of ABL ceramic countertops has grown strongly: ceramics are a durable and natural material with strong technical properties and a beautiful, natural appearance. This is causing more and more people to choose ceramics as the material for kitchen countertops. Now our countertops have a Key Flag Symbol as a recognition of it's Finnish origin and its contribution to Finnish work.

Oppimisprojekti Metropolian kanssa: Keramiikan uudet ulottuvuudet

Keramiikan uudet ulottuvuudet -näyttelyssä tarkastellaan ikiaikaista materiaalia tuoreella otteella. ABL-Laattojen ja Metropolian muotoilijaopiskelijoiden näyttely on esillä Helsinki Design Week 2019 ajan Erottaja2:ssa. Voiko keramiikka olla pehmeää, miten keramiikan ylijäämä voidaan hyödyntää ja kuinka litteä pinta herätetään eloon – näihin kysymyksiin saadaan vastauksia Metropolian muotoilijaopiskelijoiden ja ABL-Laattojen näyttelyssä Design Weekin aikaan. Näyttelyn taustalla on oppimisprojekti, jossa muotoilija Pasi Kärkkäinen-Tunkelon kurssin aikana muotoilijaopiskelijat loivat ABL-Laatoille visioita siitä, miten keramiikkaa voitaisiin hyödyntää uusilla alueilla, ja kuinka muotoilulla voidaan luoda ja kehittää täysin uutta liiketoimintaa. Kolmen suunnittelijakollektiivin voimin ja ABL-laattojen tuella syntyi näyttely, josta katsojat pääsevät nauttimaan hulppeassa Erottajan palatsin miljöössä.
