Original Sokos Hotel Koljonvirta, Iisalmi
The renewed Original Sokos Hotel Koljonvirta in Iisalmi opened in the summer of 2023. The hotel's interior design is the work of interior designer Jaana Ekman from Visionary Design Partners Helsinki Oy. The calm, beige-toned ceramic tiles in the hotel rooms and sauna area are provided by ABL-Laatat.
"I wanted to create a multi-sensory experience at Original Sokos Hotel Koljonvirta, where the beneficial effects of nature are brought indoors following biophilic design principles. The spaces are designed to stand the test of time, which is why only authentic materials that age beautifully were used in the design," interior designer Jaana Ekman explains in a press release.
Iisalmi aims to be a carbon-neutral city, and the hotel's atmosphere reflects this with its earthy and soothing ambiance. Original Sokos Hotel Koljonvirta features 88 rooms, three restaurants, cozy sauna facilities, and a meeting room. The hotel has been awarded the Green Key environmental certification as a testament to its commitment to sustainability.
