Shade, cooling and visual expression. Ceramic KeraShape tubes compose the rhythm of Vocational College Live’s façade.
The new building of the Vocational College Live of the Disability Foundation is built in the lively Turuntie district of Leppävaara in Espoo. New school building shapes significantly the cityscape. Ceramic KeraShape tubes give the buiding its’ unique expression.

“Color palate and expression adjusts well in surrounding green district. City planning committee of Espoo liked also the idea of ceramic façade as a natural material”, says architect Juha Kujanpää, design director of Linja Arkkitehdit.
The Vocational College maintained by the Finnish Invalid Foundation center for the development of special education. All the details in school building – lighting, acoustics, color palate – are designed carefully.

The ceramic cladding has multiple purposes. It filters most of the sunlight reflected into the interior, mixing it with the artificial light of the interior, facilitating the daily activities of the visually impaired students. Ceramic tubes also provide shelter from too much sun light and have a cooling effect.
